Petrotech Services came about through John Kelly and Ian Campbell, at the time employed by Gasal Management, meeting whilst working on the Mossgas project, Mossel Bay. Both of them originate from the United Kingdom, where they started their individual training, John as a shipbuilder at Cammell Laird Shipbuilders, and Ian as a blacksmith at Brodsworth Colliery. They have both achieved their "City and Guilds" qualifications, and continued their educational qualifications in SA through the South African Institute of Welding.

In the first few years The Company operated with only the two directors, and after servicing various projects in the Mining sector, secured a large petrochemical piping project.

It then became necessary to expand The Company, thereby employing additional staff.

The Company has continued to improve its growth and stability, along with further securing a number of industryrelated clients, and has continued providing quality services to the industry to date.

Currently, in addition to the management, The Company consists of a team of QC Inspectors/Expeditors and administration staff, each equipped with their own set of unique skills. The team-qualifications span a vast spectrum of engineering knowledge and experience, with most starting their careers as tradesmen.
